Thrift store Treasures

 I don't know about you but I know I always love a trip to a good thrift mall, you never know what kind of surprises or disappointments await you lol. Yesterday the family and I headed out to one of the larger thrift malls in our area to see if we could find anything worth while, I happily found a couple of things that made it worth my while. I wanted to share them with you all...I always love to see the neat things people can find for a good deal. 

I have yet to clean up any of my Christmas Decor....I am probably one of the last people in blog land to still have it up! I suppose I will get around to it sometime this week...it just looks so pretty at night that I hate to get rid of all the lights.  So you will see it yet again in these pics...sorry! 

First find is this new lamp with the Harlequin lamp shade. I believe it is originally from kirklands...$13.00 and I love it!

 

I am not sure if I will leave it on that side of the buffet but I guess I will figure that all out when I take all the Christmas stuff down and re arrange it. 

This here is an Angel that seems to be made of straw like fiber. I really liked the natural look of her and she reminds me of Holiday decorations from Germany. She was all of .13 cents!

 

My next find was this set of 4 placements. They are reversible and I love red and white checks so these made me very happy! Total for the 4 was $3.00...I think the trees are so cute for Christmas time!

 

I will use them on the plain checked side any time of year. I don't know if it's strange that these things make me so giddy and happy....but they do lol.

 

Mr. Santa...I thought he was so neat...different, with a bit of folk art look to him. His arms move and he has the same image on the other side. He was .25 cents I can't wait to clean him up and use him next year!

 

Lastly I picked up this silver tray. I thought about using it in my bathroom to put some of my glass jars on but I also really like it in the dinning room. We shall see where it ends up. It has some nice etching on it, but it's hard to make out in the pics. This was $3.00

 Those were my Thrift mall scores...hope you enjoyed them as much as I do! This next picture was a gift from my hubby. It is a small French ceramic jug. It came from an old French Restaurant in France and was used to hold aged apple cider that came from the Normandy region. It's a neat little piece to have...I will be sure to find a good home for it.

 

Here are some shots of the Dinning room at night with the glow of candles and my new lamp. The lamp really gives off a nice soft amber glow...I like it., just what I needed in there. 

I love lighting the candles at night, the lantern is my favorite one...$16.00 not too shabby.

I put the silver tray on the buffet....maybe I will keep it there with some candles in front of it to reflect the light.

My week in a nut shell

I just saw that I made it to 50 followers! Might not a big deal to all you big bloggers out there but it's half way to 100 and that is a big deal to me! Thanks to all of you for following along with me...it means a lot to me and I love reading all your comments :)  Now lets see if I can make it to 100!
I haven't posted anything since Halloween, maybe because not much has been going on...(one kid with an ear infection another child throwing up,soccer games,hitting up after Halloween sales,taking down all the Halloween decorations,and all the regular day to day stuff!) at least not anything that I think would interest people ha! I did hit up one of my favorite shopping spots and found a couple things to bring home with me (I usually have a harder time NOT bringing home things so I was good and only picked 3 things!). I threw in a couple pictures of my kitchen...I don't think I have ever really shown my kitchen. I would say it's still a work in progress, but I guess the whole house is always a work in progress. There is always something to change or tweak...it would get boring if everything stayed the same all the time!

Here is a picture that caught my eye..I love pigs and sheep...and well any farm animal it seems. I also love England and the maps on this are places in England...so for $4.88 it came home with me.

Then I found this old Spool...I love things that are made of wood, especially if it is old and worn looking. I have seen these and always want to buy one but never did. $3.00 bought me this one.

Last but not least I had seen this wooden tool box a couple weeks ago when I went to this store and didn't buy it. I believe it was around $10.00 when I first saw it. I was excited to see it was still there and it was marked down to $6.88!! Needless to say I didn't hesitate on that purchase ;) I love the color blue it's painted and the detail of the handle. I also think adding the chalk board surface to it was a cool idea!

Here is how I used the tool box...I filled it up with some dry lavender and added some faux hydrangeas, pears, some real pine cones and cinnamon sticks. I put some burlap in there as well.

 These are some shots of my kitchen.

 I just made this valance this week. I used some Muslin fabric and acrylic paint. It took about 30 min and cost less then $4.00! I am really happy with the look of it. We also added the shutters shortly after we moved here. They were pre-cut ones sold as a set at Lowes. I have always wanted plantation shutters and decided that living in military housing wasn't going to stop me!  :)

 This is the chalk board I made a while back you can see the before pic here. My kids love to draw on it!

 Another shot of the kitchen. I painted the dinning room but never made it into the kitchen.

 We added undermount cabinet lights from Ikea. I love them!! They add so much light to your work space and because they are plug in's I can take them with me when we move!

 That was a little tour of my Cucina! Hope ya liked it :)

On another note I did have a chance to meet a fellow blog friend! Alison over at Classy Columbus Designs was so sweet and sent me an invite to her home for a girls nite. I really enjoyed meeting her and her friends, it was so nice to get out of the house without the kids! Alison has a lovely home and is very talented at decorating and crafting! Fall fun weekend

This weekend was one of the first weekends that really felt like fall, 70's cool and breezy, perfect weather! The family and I went to the pumpkin patch and found some neat pumpkins. I love looking through all the different pumpkins, so many shapes, sizes and colors! I could just keep picking them...but then I would go home broke.

 

 

There was this huge tree with rocking chairs and a swing under it, I could have sat there for hours. Perfect day.

 

 

After the pumpkin patch we headed to an antique mall. I found some pieces that I decided to bring on home with me!  Here are some of the things that I got.

 

 My hubby found this clock...$10.00! I couldn't belive it was so cheep! Love it!

 

I found this burlap bag, not sure yet what I will use it for but $6 wasn't bad. I am sure I will find some project for it.

 This is a little plate saucer, that was $3.00.  I really liked the picture on it. 

 

 

I saw this picture and really liked the color in the tree. It reminds me of the New England states in the fall. So for $6.00 it was coming home with me.

 

Lastly is the cheese board and cloche. I painted it as soon as I got home. I did one coat of Old White and then I mixed some old white with my chalk board paint and did a coat of that. Sanded it down and that was that. I like the color it turned out. Might have to use it on something else as well!

 

Well that was what I did this weekend. I used some of my new things to do some fall decorating. I will post about that in a little bit.
