Bedroom Pillow

A little while back I posted pics of some fabrics I had bought. I bought a black and white toile fabric that I was going to use to make some pillows for my bedroom. Today I made one of the pillows...with my moms help via the phone! I have never made a ruffle before so I had some questions about that and thankfully my mom had the answers! So I just wanted to share a pic with ya'll. I don't have any stuffing yet so I filled it with plastic bags to take a pic...it's not sewn shut.

Hope your all having a good Sunday night....that means football at this house!
Till next time

Gone a little Batty!

It's been a little while since I posted anything on here..guess I just got busy with life! So I thought I would make a quick post to show some of what I've been doing around the house.

I wanted to add some Halloween to the rooms. A friend of mine made bat cut outs and taped them up on her walls...I loved them and how cheap and easy it was sooo I went ahead and made a bunch as well! Love how they look and how they are all different from each other.  This is in the dining room. I went a little crazy using the vampira scape effect on picnik lol.

I used the glass jar luminaries that the kids made for this arrangement. Added in some skulls and big blingy gems plus the new garland I got at Michaels. I thought it was cute with the little ghosts and candy corns on it..$3. why not?!

This is my Bat wall in the living room...it's hard to tell that the bats are sticking off of the wall above the horse...but they are. The kids really like them..it looks like they're flying! Oh and I love my crow perched on my wall plaque!
Here is the living room at night with just the candles and garland lights lit. I love the glow!

This room is upstairs. It is an open room that sits off of two of my kids rooms in the back of the house. It's small but works well for a small TV area. My love seat from Ikea is up there and an old armoire from pier 1 imports that I've had for years! The rug is from pottery barn and the black table was a thrift/junk find for $35. I got that last week. I plan on painting it with some ASCP...just haven't gotten to that yet! As you can see MORE bats lol. Sorry...I just really had fun making them!

Looking into the TV room from my sons bedroom.

A vignette I put together using lots of my Grandmothers books and some things I had around the house. I purchased the cloth pumpkin on sale at Michaels and the white one I painted with ASCP old white. The birds were sent to me by a dear friend.

More painted pumpkins, old books and one of the fabric pumpkins I made.

I love the shadow cast on the wall from the bats...very neat! The pillows I made seem to float around the house to different rooms...

Well that is a little of what I have been doing.....making lots of bats ha! Hope you enjoyed that long picture tour.  Thanks for stopping by to take a looksey!

A quickie.....project ;)

I wanted to make a quick post for a pillow I just made to go on my bed. I had some muslin so I made a pillow out of it and used some acrylic craft paint to add stripes and my initials. It is simple and it was easy. I hope to make some more, just need to get more fabric. I think they could be a good gift idea..add your friends initials to them and voila a personalized pillow! My bedroom will be undergoing a makeover soon....it's a slow process but it will be happening. Stay tuned for more on that!

Hope Ya'll have a fabulously fun weekend!

Craft happy weekend

I hope everyone had a great weekend! It was a good weekend for me, the weather was perfect fall weather. Rainy, cool, breezy...*sigh*  that is perfect weather for me. I don't like hot sunny fall days...those are summer days to me, so I greatly appreciated the change. My kids and I did a lot of little craft projects this weekend, and incorporated them into our fall/Halloween decor. It's always so much fun to make decorations, it makes them feel more personal and special, plus you usually save some money ;)

Here are the different fabric pumpkins the kids and I made. I found the tutorial here.  We also added bay leaves to them. I am happy with the way they turned out. I found myself going into the kitchen to do something and wound up making a pumpkin real quick! Very easy and fun :)
This pumpkin is black and white gingham. I think it's my favorite one.
Orange and black plaid pumpkin. I really like this fabric. It reminds me of my Grandmom.

I also made some burlap pennant banners.  I LOVE how these came out! I am gonna make more for Thanksgiving. I used the old burlap coffee bean bag I bought at the antique mall. I ran some twine through it to hang it with.

Here is another sign I made. I think they add a bit of cuteness to any decor!
I had some burlap left and wasn't sure what to do with it. So I asked my hubby and he said "why not make some little ghosts out of it". Why didn't I think of that!? So I did and I love them. I made three, and used up all the burlap. I cut a square about 10x10 in. and wadded up a ball of toilet paper for the head. Tied raffia around the neck and painted black eyes and a mouth. Took 5 min!

This one is a girl because she has some pink on her burlap.

I put this guy outside with the broom.

Our next project was an idea my mom had seen in a magazine. We took glass jars (pickles, jelly, peanut butter,)and washed them out. Then I got napkins and tissue paper at the Dollar Store and applied it with Mod Podge to the outside. We added a coat on top of it all, and that was it. The kids had a lot of fun with this one. They each made their own. There's one more little pumpkin that didn't make it into the pic...woops!

I spent some time throughout the weekend adding fall touches to the outside. I made this wreath last week. I bought a grape vine wreath for $2.50 at Hobby Lobby, some flowers and feathers. I just wedge them between the vines. I am by no means an advanced wreath maker!

I found this big pot of mixed mums for $10.00 at Walmart...the best price I have seen for that size. I put them on top of my apple crate and added some Indian corn, pumpkins and gourds.
I love the colors of these mums!
Mr. Scarecrow has been a part of our family for many years. He started to loose his hat and hair, but we fixed him! Hope he stays around for a couple more years.
A small tablescape I made with a fall flag, mums and my old bird house. I have it sitting on a terracotta pot and wrapped some burlap around it. I am digging burlap right now...if you haven't noticed.

The side of the house. I have some flowers to plant here, just didn't get it done yet.

I love sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs. The weather has been just right for that lately.

The front of the house. I have some gardening to do and a couple more touches to add. You get the idea though....I hope :)

Thanks for coming by to see my home. Hope you enjoyed it.
Have a great week!

Fun Fabric Finds

Today I took a little trip to Hobby Lobby to pick up some things for a couple projects I want to work on. I went to the fabric section and found some fabrics I want to use for making pumpkins. I found a tutorial here for making cute and very easy fabric pumpkins. So these are the fabrics I picked out to make the pumpkins with. I will post pics once they're finished!

I saw this fabric while I was looking around and I really liked it. I think I am going to make some throw pillows for my bed out of it.
I love the pattern on it, so pretty. Hopefully I will get around to making the pillows soon.

Just wanted to share that with ya.

Small fall changes

I said I would probably end up changing some stuff in my fall decor...and I did. I was in Walmart today and saw some really nice flower bushels for $5.00. I love fresh flowers so I picked some up and decided to use them with my new glass jar from the flea market. I like this arrangement much better for the dinning room table....what do you think? Which one looks better?

I used a scrap piece of muslin fabric I had to place it all on.

I LOVE sunflowers...my favorite!  Not bad for $5.00

My dinning room from the back door. It's an open kitchen dinning area.

I made this little arrangement with the old apple picking crate I got. I think this will find it's way outside soon.

This is a small arrangement I made on the kitchen counter. I filled my ironstone tureen with some pine cones and acorns. I put out my sunflower plate and a ceramic pumpkin.

We'll see if I change anything else later on...I'll let ya know if I do!
