Craft happy weekend

I hope everyone had a great weekend! It was a good weekend for me, the weather was perfect fall weather. Rainy, cool, breezy...*sigh*  that is perfect weather for me. I don't like hot sunny fall days...those are summer days to me, so I greatly appreciated the change. My kids and I did a lot of little craft projects this weekend, and incorporated them into our fall/Halloween decor. It's always so much fun to make decorations, it makes them feel more personal and special, plus you usually save some money ;)

Here are the different fabric pumpkins the kids and I made. I found the tutorial here.  We also added bay leaves to them. I am happy with the way they turned out. I found myself going into the kitchen to do something and wound up making a pumpkin real quick! Very easy and fun :)
This pumpkin is black and white gingham. I think it's my favorite one.
Orange and black plaid pumpkin. I really like this fabric. It reminds me of my Grandmom.

I also made some burlap pennant banners.  I LOVE how these came out! I am gonna make more for Thanksgiving. I used the old burlap coffee bean bag I bought at the antique mall. I ran some twine through it to hang it with.

Here is another sign I made. I think they add a bit of cuteness to any decor!
I had some burlap left and wasn't sure what to do with it. So I asked my hubby and he said "why not make some little ghosts out of it". Why didn't I think of that!? So I did and I love them. I made three, and used up all the burlap. I cut a square about 10x10 in. and wadded up a ball of toilet paper for the head. Tied raffia around the neck and painted black eyes and a mouth. Took 5 min!

This one is a girl because she has some pink on her burlap.

I put this guy outside with the broom.

Our next project was an idea my mom had seen in a magazine. We took glass jars (pickles, jelly, peanut butter,)and washed them out. Then I got napkins and tissue paper at the Dollar Store and applied it with Mod Podge to the outside. We added a coat on top of it all, and that was it. The kids had a lot of fun with this one. They each made their own. There's one more little pumpkin that didn't make it into the pic...woops!

I spent some time throughout the weekend adding fall touches to the outside. I made this wreath last week. I bought a grape vine wreath for $2.50 at Hobby Lobby, some flowers and feathers. I just wedge them between the vines. I am by no means an advanced wreath maker!

I found this big pot of mixed mums for $10.00 at Walmart...the best price I have seen for that size. I put them on top of my apple crate and added some Indian corn, pumpkins and gourds.
I love the colors of these mums!
Mr. Scarecrow has been a part of our family for many years. He started to loose his hat and hair, but we fixed him! Hope he stays around for a couple more years.
A small tablescape I made with a fall flag, mums and my old bird house. I have it sitting on a terracotta pot and wrapped some burlap around it. I am digging burlap right now...if you haven't noticed.

The side of the house. I have some flowers to plant here, just didn't get it done yet.

I love sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs. The weather has been just right for that lately.

The front of the house. I have some gardening to do and a couple more touches to add. You get the idea though....I hope :)

Thanks for coming by to see my home. Hope you enjoyed it.
Have a great week!

Rachel~

Thanks Alison, I am normally not so crafty, but I am having a lot of fun making things! As far as my favorite shops in this area I would say Gina's Junk, The vintage years, and The front porch of the South. I have been to a couple other places but they didn't thrill me. There are a couple other places that I have never been to but am itching to go check out! What are yours?
