Some fall decor

I have been procrastinating putting up my fall decor...not for the lack of wanting to but due to the lack of knowing how I want to decorate! I have seen so many wonderful posts out there in blog land showing fall decor that I have become overwhelmed with it all lol. So I pulled out the decor I already had and went out and bought a couple things here and there. It sat on my table for a while, and I would stare at it...thinking of where to put it or how to arrange it. I would go to bed thinking about it, and actually dreamt about it! This weekend I decided to tackle fall decorating. I'm not sure if I will leave everything the way it is, I am sure I will change something or add something here or there, but for now I am content. Here are some photos!

This is my buffet in the dinning room.
I added some candle sticks, old books that my mom gave me and my candle snuffer that was part of a wedding gift. I put a cast iron bird with some acorns and pine cones under the cloche.  I added in the new saucer plate that I just bought and some cinnamon sticks.
These are candle sticks that I have accumulated from different vintage shops. Two are wood and the one on the far left is iron. I'm thinking that is the candle stick they are talking about in the Clue game..heavy!

This is on the dinning table. I put mums in my clay pots, I found these at a little vintage shop that I love. I really like the earth tone color of the pots. I am not totally happy with the decor, I am going to change some of it once I go to the store.

This is the entry hall coming from the dinning room.

This is headed into the kitchen/dinning room. This house is military housing, so there is only so much I can do with it, but I enjoy trying to make it our home.
Here is the living room, which is a very small room! I wish my hubby would mount the t.v. on the wall so I could put some taller things on the cabinet....but I don't see that happening any time soon. I miss having a fireplace mantle to decorate...that is one thing that makes me sad about living in military housing.
I put up my leaf garland, added in some pine cones, little pumpkins, and some of my favorite Halloween decorations. I also have a strand of orange lights in the leaves that I light up at night.
My birdie, I love decorating with birds. There is another brown bird candle holder in there as well.

This guy is my Gordie! He is one of my favorite decorations. I bought him years ago in Germany and he has broken through many moves, but Gorilla glue holds him together.

I painted this pumpkin with chalk board paint and wrote the letters with chalk.  The wooden pumpkin candle holder is from an orchard back home in PA. I love little stuff like that. The old books were my grandmothers. I keep those out year round.

On this side table I added the new picture I just bought and put it on top of Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven books. Thought that was fitting ;) I added my wooden bird, some pumpkins, candles tied with twine, my little boo ghosts ( also from P.A.) and some books and willow balls in an old sewing machine table drawer.

This is my favorite fall picture. I bought it at the Kutztown fair in Pa. a couple years ago. The artist, John Stevens, is local to Pennsylvania, he lives in the York area. This resides on my wall every fall...and is sadly replaced by another picture by the same artist in the winter.

So there ya have it, a look at some of my fall decor. I need to work on the outside now...hopefully I will get to that this weekend. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. I would love to hear your comments, suggestions and ideas.
Have a wonderful week!

Rachel~

  7. You have so many cute Fall and Halloween things. I especially love the picture of the house with the pumpkins! So pretty! That little "Gordie" is cute too. Glad you haven't had to part with him despite his tragic accidents. Ha! I think you've done a great job. You have plenty to work with.
